Protesting the President-Elect

Protests will make people sit up and listen. I think it may be effective in uniting those with common concerns. I think it sends an important message – to those marginalized folks? You are not alone. You have allies. I am determined to be a part of the solution for a better tomorrow. I cannot change the past. I cannot change today. But I can sure as hell make sure I do my damnedest to bring about a country where ALL of my friends and family are treated equally.

America, what have we done…

I’m kind of an odd duck in the world of politics. Socially liberal, fiscally conservative, and a few odd subjects that swing completely opposite of what you’d expect – I don’t fit in any one candidate’s (or party’s) camp. With this year’s presidential election, there is far more at stake than who will be the next POTUS.…

It’s time to let it go…

It’s kind of all over the place and apparently, we can’t just let it go… Disney’s got a gay agenda! Just look at Frozen! It practically screams feminist lesbianism… ummm… wow. Really? Here I was thinking it was a pretty good, and pretty modern, story about sisters mending their relationship. Sure, it’s wrapped in a tale…

get on the boycott bus…

I’ve never been one to get behind a consumer boycott. Sure, I believe voting with your wallet is a powerful move, and yes, I understand the value of clearly communicating your convictions. Dark questions for a Dark Knight…

Last week, a former graduate student did the unthinkable – he entered a crowded movie theater and, in a scene straight out of the most violent of films, caused havoc, killing 12 people and wounding 58 more. Just reading the descriptions of the event is horrific. It’s not something that the average American can wrap…

Limbaugh & Palin – what a combo!

As is my habit, my early morning coffee was enjoyed whilst scanning headlines, reading interesting stories, and otherwise keeping up on the who, what, where, when, why, how and huh? of the world. I don’t often have the chance to read up on news in the evenings. So, yesterday’s headline on the CNN Political Ticker…

Super Tuesday = Super Tense

It’s Primary time, and no matter what side of the political fence you stand on (perhaps even straddling it?) that means it’s time to start getting serious about voting for our nation’s next President. Oh, and the choices are just so overwhelmingly underwhelming this go ’round, aren’t they? Aside from a few very passionate folks,…
